THE
TEAM
Every year, a group of students is nominated and elected to lead our chapter. These officers go through an extensive application process, including recommendations, interviews, resumes and an FFA knowledge test. Once elected, the officers work hand in hand with the members to organize events and create a Program of Activities that upholds the core values of the organization, as well as the interests of the members.

Mrs. Jessica Switzer

Mrs. Switzer has been at Steinbrenner for seven years, serving as one of the chapter's advisors and agriscience teachers. She teaches Veterinary Assisting as well as ACCESS Agriculture for our ESE students. She especially enjoys teaching her Agriculture Communications classes, which she started in 2018. Mrs. Switzer has a passion for public speaking, specifically for the Prepared Public Speaking and Creed LDEs and also coaches the horse judging team. One of her favorite opportunities for students is when they can go to FFA Capitol Day and lobby for additional funding for agriculture education.

Mrs. Switzer started her FFA journey in 8th grade, where she began a dairy goat SAE, and showed across the state of Florida, winning several Grand Champion accolades as well as being fiercely competitive in showmanship. Born and raised in Lutz, FL she has maintained her dairy herd on her family's property that she was raised on and shows her personal animals alongside her students, as well as continuing to breed and sell goats to local FFA and 4-H members.

Mrs. Switzer attended the University of South Florida where she focused on gaining more experience in teaching, and transferred to the University of Florida- Plant City campus to pursue a degree in Agricultural Education and Communications. Staying local, she was able to gain valuable experience working closely with many other agriculture teachers and stakeholders in the area. Graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2016, she was hired at Steinbrenner High School as part of the agriculture and veterinary assisting program. Mrs. Switzer is in the process of continuing her education and is a student at the University of Florida through their online graduate program, where she is working on her Masters in Agriculture Education and Communication.

In her off time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, exploring and vacationing with her husband, Josh, and gardening. Mrs. Switzer is also a member of the Hillsborough County Fair Livestock Committee and is in charge of the Market Goat and Dairy Goat Shows. She also enjoys judging other local youth livestock shows.

"My favorite part of the FFA is the ability for students to pursue so many different opportunities. I also have the great privilege of seeing so many students evolve into ambitious and successful adults. The memories formed from all the events is second to none"

Ms. Devon Morrison

Ms. Morrison is in her fourth year teaching and is so grateful to have started her teaching career at Steinbrenner High School. Ms. Morrison joined the Steinbrenner Warrior family in 2019 shortly after graduating Cum Laude from the University of Florida. During her time at the University of Florida, Ms. Morrison was a part of the Block and Bridle Club, Gator Collegiate Cattlewomen and served as president of the Gator Collegiate FFA Alumni for the 2018-2019 school year.

Before her time at the University of Florida, Ms. Morrison received two scholarships to play college softball at State College of Florida and Newberry College in South Carolina.

Ms. Morrison's FFA journey began in high school at Walter L. Sickles High School. Ms. Morrison had both swine and beef SAE projects throughout her four years at Sickles High School. Ms. Morrison also competed in the parlimentary procedure and agriculture issues contests.

Ms. Morrison teaches Veterinary Assisting 1, as well as Animal Science 2 & 3 and Agriscience Foundations. She also coaches the livestock judging team and parlimentary procedure team.

"What I enjoy most about FFA is that there are so many opportunities for students, no matter what they are interested in. Many of these opportunities allow students to explore outside of their comfort zone, which is where we see lots of growth from our students. My favorite thing about FFA is that many of the skills and lessons learned are things that you will carry with you for the rest of your life!"
